Mrs Blake/Mrs Lennox

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They must be a couple, surely. They both live at Mrs Lennox' house in Bath!

Mrs Lennox is Mr Segundus' age - a very rich widow and owner of Starecross, bold, decisive and charitable, and Mrs Blake is her live-in companion, a mature lady, kind-natured, a little tall and thin and with fair hair. I'd love some slight age-difference romance here.

Maybe even outsider POV (Segundus, since she's quick to understand the prospects of a magic school and offers to become a patron)? Or maybe Childermass, since he thinks Mrs Lennox is an excellent woman for business?

This reminds me of the Ladies if Llangollen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladies_of_Llangollen
It would be great to see this prompt filled

Maria Bullworth/Henry Lascelles

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Lascelles was, doubtless, a horrible cruel bastard to her, but give us details.

Maria Bullworth/Christopher Drawlight, revenge sex

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps Mrs Bullworth seduces a supposed 'frenemy' of Lascelles for revenge, and Drawlight is prompted by the same motives - to sleep with Maria to make a dig at Henry, with whom he may have had - or desired - a romantic entanglement??

Re: Maria Bullworth/Christopher Drawlight, revenge sex

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If it doesn't go down exactly like the famous story about Robert de Montesquiou, I will be severely disappointed: "He had no affairs with women, although in 1876 he reportedly once slept with the great actress Sarah Bernhardt, after which he vomited for twenty-four hours. (She remained a great friend.)"

Margaret Ford/Donata Torel, magic ring?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Both were members of a fellowship of female magicians flourishing in Nottinghamshire in the 12th century. Master of Nottingham was their enemy who drove them to live in the woods (even though his daughter Donata was part of the fellowship); Margaret Ford became (unfairly, according to Strange) immortalised in the folk-tale 'The losing of the Master of Nottingham's ring'. So.

BAMF 12th century lady magicians and how Donata fell in love with Margaret despite her dad, Hugh Torel, being a hateful hater of a magician.

Maria Edgeworth/Walter Scott, fanboy Sir Walter

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Distinguished Sir Walter Scott greatly approves of the works of Mrs Edgeworth, a lady and a novelist. Worshipful approval, please. Magic welcome.

Joscelin de Snitton/Cecily de Walbrook (/ de Walbrook / de Chepe), roleplay

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Remember how in the 13th century in Southern England, minor magician Joscelin de Snitton knew no modesty or shame? And shape-shifted into a cat to become a beloved pet of Cecily de Walbrook, follow her around and sleep in her bed? Well, after he was spotted and unmasked by the magician Walter de Chepe, but before he was arraigned before the Petty Dragownes of London, who ordered him to have his right hand stricken off, maybe there were some kitten play shenanigans with angry Cecily.

Bonus if she still calls Joscelin 'Sir Loveday', as she called the cat. Double bonus if her nobleman husband is also involved. Triple if Walter de Chepe is also in it.

William Hadley-Bright/Tom Levy/Henry Purfois

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Strange's three eager pupils-to-be while away the time fantasising about magic and pursuing carnal delights. It is magical.

Janet Hughes/John Childermass

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Mrs Strange's maid Janet is sure glad her mistress is back from the dead, and she's determined to let no harm come to her after she watched the fetch die (so horrible). With the whole revival of English magic business, Childermass occasionally has business in the Strange household, and afterwards, maybe comes there for other reasons. Who knows. Just happy wild rough downstairs sex, that's the idea.

Miss Honeyfoot/John Segundus, Austen-like bumbling romance

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
No matter which Miss Honeyfoot - Jane, who sings in Italian, or the other one, who plays the pianoforte. They don't entertain Mr Segundus for nothing when he comes by, you know. He's pretty okay for a marriageable man of the gentry. Tick-tock, Mr Segundus. Wake up and have some sense and sensibility.

Re: Miss Honeyfoot/John Segundus, Austen-like bumbling romance

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yesssss Mr Honeyfoot as such a Mrs Bennett, constantly throwing his daughters at Segundus and hoping one of them will stick. Mrs Honeyfoot just watching with an arched eyebrow.

Henry Lascelles/Champion of the Fairy of the Castle of the Plucked Eye and Heart

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Seeing as in the book, Lascelles, being a despicable idiot, deliberately seeks out the Champion (a pale young man in the uniform of a British officer) to duel him, after rejoicing at Childermass' 'cowardice' in avoiding the duel... sure he killed him and then was compelled to take his place, but what if the duel was not a fight fight, but a sex fight? Because fairies.

Maybe the Lady of the Castle of the Plucked Eye and Heart likes that sort of thing. (And is privately very boo-boo that Childermass avoided the combat and little death, because Childermass is hot.)

Re: Henry Lascelles/Champion of the Fairy of the Castle of the Plucked Eye and Heart

(Anonymous) 2015-11-23 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pondering on how a sex fight could work (although you're right, anything goes with fairies!) but I can't stop thinking about how very very pretty Lascelles might look getting it on with a soldier. He was of the 11th Light Dragoons so if he was an officer he'd have looked like this:

and a private like this:

They'd definitely make a striking pair!

Childermass/Vinculus, Restoration of Flown Tranquillity

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Childermass considered using this spell on Vinculus after the Raven King brought him back from the dead. Ultimately he opted for claret, but what if he had to use the spell to calm down Vinculus' exitement? (Suppose there's some sex involved in the spell. Orgasms are calming.)

Sir Walter Pole/Pampisford the maid

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Pampisford cannot explain to Sir Walter what is going on with her ladyship (magic!). Eventually, Pampisford being less physically and emotionally distant than Lady Emma (though an ocean away socially), Sir Walter takes to bedding her. Pampisford has mixed feelings about this.

Re: Sir Walter Pole/Pampisford the maid

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm...really interested in this? Perhaps I'm projecting my Jane Eyre feelings all over it.

Hettie Pleasance/Mrs Cockcroft

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Gossping about the Society of York Magicians, Mr John Segundus, and other juicy matters. Maybe some hanging out at the George Inn, people-watching, trading bread recipes, match-making...

Sophronia Watkins/Henry Woodhope

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe a wedding is coming to Great Hitherden? Reverend Henry needs some love. Hopefully he genuinely cares for Sophronia for her character, and not just her ten thousand pounds.

Catherine of Winchester/Jane Tobias

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Surely they meet in spirit while Jane is translating her book from Latin. Either a transcendental conversation about John Uskglass, or a sensual embodiment of magical experience ensues.

Cassandra Parbringer/Jane Tobias

Turning men into mice and eating them in owl-shape is very sexy.

Jane Tobias/Mrs Field

Friendship is magic.

Claire Clairmont/Flora Greysteel

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Flora helps Claire get over Lord Byron, the father of her natural daughter. Magic may be involved.

oh wow - if there is anyone who could cope with CC it would be Flora! what a great prompt...

Childermass/Lascelles : spanking, public humiliation

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
We know that Mr Lascelles has a desire to teach Childermass better manners. There's also that delicious line from the canon (that has been quoted before on this very meme) of him wanting to whip Childermass and throwing himself into sofa cushions in a strop because Norrell would never allow it. Thanks to the scene resulting in Childermass's face being slashed, we also know there's only so much of Childermass's insolence Lascelles can take before he snaps.

Give me Lascelles losing it over Childermass's audacity prior to the Hurtfew!slashing (only in a not quite so damaging way), and just to make matters worse he loses it when people are present (perhaps just Drawlight, as he's the only character I can think of that would be too scared to put a stop to it). I want Lascelles ordering Childermass to bend over (either across his knee, or the edge of Norrell's desk) and spanking him (with his hand, a book, a ruler, anything) with the intention of humiliating him and teaching him a lesson.

+ if Lascelles is the one who ends up humiliated somehow (maybe Norrell comes in and tells him to leave immediately)
+ if Childermass really enjoys it and whilst from behind he is pretty much silently enduring the whacks he's actually biting his lip as his eyes roll back in his head
+ if Drawlight (or whoever is there) tries to interfere momentarily and is threatened with the same punishment so quickly steps back
+ Lascelles looks a bit disheveled afterward and Childermass looks like his normal self
+ Childermass being really cocky about it e.g. "now you've gotten that out of your system, may I get back to my duties?"

[climbs into bin bag and waits for the bin men to collect me]

Childermass/Segundus, modern era university AU

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Norrell and Strange are two professors each from rival magical universities, and Norrell has taken to sending his "teaching assistant" Childermass to the other uni to spy on Strange's dissertation notes. Childermass seduces Professor Segundus as a cover for why he keeps hanging around but soon finds himself falling for the young professor

Vinculus/Five Wives

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Can be a 5+1 story where he's living with each of them separately and then all of them meet up. Preferably each wife has some sort of magic about her, either known to the world or hidden. Or maybe known in their social circles, the 'masters' being wilfully oblivious since magic is an affair for gentlemen and not kitchenmaids.

Arabella Strage/Sophronia Watkins

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The heiress is not that interested in Bell's clergyman brother after all, so she employs some feminine enticements to finally see him comfortably married to ten thousand pounds. Miss Watkins is much enticed by Mrs Strange's worldly charm.

Arabella Strange/Janet Hughes

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's projecting Waters' Fingersmith feelings or something, but - a close relationship between Arabella and her maid Janet. With bonus angst over Arabella being replaced with the fetch and the fetch dying, and then the joy of the reunion.

Cassandra Parbringer/Arabella Strange

(Anonymous) 2015-08-20 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Arabella falls in love with another eccentric magician.
