Norrell thinks Strange is killed in the Peninsula

(Anonymous) 2015-12-02 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This would probably only work for the TV!canon but what if there were rumours that got back to London after Jeremy Johns' death that Jonathan was caught up in the battle? People love a bit of propaganda; so basically give me Norrell being wrongly told Jonathan has been killed at war.

This would be back when everything was sweet between them; no talk of walking through mirrors or John Uskglass...Norrell was still very fond of Jonathan at this point and furthermore he seems so happy to see him back in episode 4...

So what would be his grief process? Would he repress it and just be grumpy and snappy? Would he lose his shit over losing the only other magician in England (not to mention at this time his apprentice). How would Lascelles and Drawlight react? How would Childermass react?

I'd prefer it if this wasn't shippy, I'd just like a nice dollop of angst!gen :)

In the book there is actually the bit where Norrell sends Childermass to ask Arabella if Jonathan had been killed bc there was a rumor (Arabella tells I think Jonathan about it after he gets back), so it totally works in book canon to; all you'd have to do is say the rumor was more persistent and didn't get dispelled till later. Just wanted to say that! Very plausible in either canon and a good prompt.

Childermass/Strange/Norrell, polyamorous shenanigans

(Anonymous) 2015-12-03 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
After magically sealing off the door to the library, Jonathan and Norrell surprise Childermass while he's reading beside the fire by taking him to pieces. Jonathan is on his knees giving him some oral relief while Norrell props himself on the arm of the chair and kisses him, occasionally taking a peek at Jonathan.

...so essentially a pwp where Childermass gets pampered, petted and pleasured by his two magical boyfriends and it's lovely

Childermass/Segundus - Pure of Heart

There's a magician out there who needs a perfectly pure heart for their spell, and they have their sights fixed on Segundus's.

Childermass/Lascelles hand worship

(Anonymous) 2015-12-08 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I know this is probably a bit OOC but i was inspired by these gorgeous gifs http://vicivefallen.tumblr.com/post/134793045321

and now i just want Childermass being obsessed with Lascelles' hands. So maybe lots of touching/ kissing/licking/stroking of those lovely long fingers.

Doesn't have to turn into full blown smut but I'm always up for sexy times with these two! :)

Lascelles/book!Drawlight - (magic?) silk rope bondage, light spanking

(Anonymous) 2015-12-11 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Drawlight has a hard time falling asleep and gets too wiggly at night but Lascelles knows the best (or at least most fun) way to get him under control. Tying him up tight with some pretty rope + some light spanking for stress relief usually does the trick.

Except this time he accidentally uses some weird enchanted rope that makes things even more interesting. The rope emits a strange pulse that heightens Drawlight's arousal, making him more sensitive all over...

So Drawlight has a good time and is very worn out and finally sleeps. And Lascelles won't admit quite how arousing he found it all too and tries to just act very amused/relieved Drawlight's not annoying and kicking him in his sleep anymore.

(Er, if you hate Lascelles, I'm okay with most other male main characters or even an OMC x book!Drawlight too!)

This prompt is perfect in how specific it is, I also like how special note has been made for the probability of people hating Lascelles haha.

Grant/De Lancey: First time

(Anonymous) 2015-12-13 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
We have had a few stories involving these two where it is taken for granted (pun intended) that they have been at it for years and are up for anything and some that have taken us back in time to see how it started when they were younger but I would love to read a fic where they have managed to get as far as the Peninsula without shagging each other's brains out and are only beginning to realise what they want.

Who makes the first move? What is the reaction? Do they try to stop themselves or just give in to the lust? Has either or both been with a man before or is it the first time for one of them?

A bit of body worship thrown in there would be lovely and a follow up to Fully Alive would be perfect if the A!A who wrote that wonderful piece of hotness happens to be reading this

Fill: Christmas Morning

(Anonymous) 2016-12-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hello OP! So it's been exactly a year since you posted this prompt so I'm not sure if you'll still be around to receive this fill, but here it is anyway. A little post-canon ficlet about Christmas! Relationships: Strange & Norrell, Jonathan/Bell, Norrell & Childermass and a little bit of Emma & Bell). Merry Christmas!

Jonathan must stop referring to their predicament as an entrapment — they were not trapped in the Darkness. Mr Norrell and Mr Strange were free to explore the worlds beyond Hurtfew’s door whenever they pleased. They were not lonely either. The strange and wonderful peoples of faerie lands could speak with them, trade goods, even fall in love with them — it was Norrell they usually fell for, much to Jonathan’s disappointment.

The Darkness rarely remained in one place for long periods of time. To keep exploring kept the magicians’ minds active and the more they explored the more likely they might stumble across someone who could help them escape their . . . predicament. What was peculiar —for Norrell in particular— was that Hurtfew came with them. Despite their immeasurable distance from England, he didn’t feel far from home. When peering through the windows he saw a different landscape to that of Yorkshire’s. Turning back towards his library, Jonathan sitting ankles crossed beside the fire, there was nowhere else he’d rather be.

During their latest adventure, a young fae wished the magicians a happy Feast of Saturnis. Norrell was eager to move on in case she expected something in return for her good wishes, but Jonathan saw how useful such a blessing could be. They had attempted to keep track of time within the Darkness but found it rather difficult after a week or so. Now they slept when tired and woke when refreshed and tallied the periods in a notebook. The faery was happy to explain to Jonathan that according to her calculations the Christian world was celebrating Christmas, which coincided with their Saturnis feast. Norrell pressed for the year. 1817. Since their count began, they estimated they had been in the Darkness for almost five years. In England, it was a mere five months.

“It’s been a while since I thought of Christmas,” Jonathan said, as he pulled the Abbey’s large wooden door closed behind him.

Following the glow of Norrell’s branch of candles to the library, Jonathan realised why they had not considered celebrating it. Christmas was about family and friends, and cherishing them whilst one could. It was about light and warmth, wrapping up in thick blankets whilst snow fell outside, tiny candles burning upon a decorated tree. Here in the Darkness, they only had each other. There was no rain or snow, no daylight, no warmth but that from the hearth.

“I never celebrated Christmas,” Norrell said, stoking the library’s fire.

“You must have!” Strange reclined in his armchair as Norrell piled fresh logs upon the fire. “Did you not treat your servants?” Norrell ignored the question as Strange continued, fingers steepled while reminiscing. “Arabella and I used to buy the staff little trinkets. She was skilled at wrapping. They always looked beautiful.” The smile spreading across his face contained a hint of sadness but he cherished the memory of watching his wife fussing over paper folds and decorative ribbons. “I always surprised her with flowers. There is a certain pansy that grows in winter . . .” he trailed off.

“I bought Childermass fruit,” Norrell said quietly, from within his own contemplation.

Jonathan snapped out from his daydream and chuckled. “What kind of fruit?”

“Oranges, pears, pine— uh, peaches, that sort of thing.”

“Then he was a lucky man.”

Jonathan sank into his chair and exhaled, recalling the delicious foods back in England. They ate well enough in Faerie but it was not the food of home. Sometimes he missed a nice crust of bread, or a chunky stew. On occasion, he even missed the colourless slop they served in the Peninsula. Now he craved a bowl of fruit, fresh cream, and delicious flavours that once had his taste buds leaping from his tongue.

With the fire warming them, they shared a silent moment of reflection. They thought of those they had once been so close to, and how they would spend their first Christmas without them.

“What time do you think it is in England?” Jonathan knew the answer Norrell would give before he asked but had an interesting idea.

“There’s no way of knowing without the aid of magic, you know that.”

All of a sudden Jonathan was out of his seat, kneeling beside Norrell and looking up at him with an expectant look that could only mean trouble.

“Do you remember the spell we performed, to check if Hurtfew remained in Yorkshire?” Norrell nodded nervously. “Well, do you think we might combine it with another?” Norrell turned his eyes away, considering it for a moment. Jonathan was always the talented one at combining spells. There was no need for him to ask permission but he liked to all the same.

“I presume so.”

With that, Jonathan was on his feet, searching the library. Norrell questioned him twice on his plan but when Jonathan replied both times that it was a surprise he gave up; he would find out eventually.

After several hours, Strange explained his idea. The spell used to check Hurtfew’s absence would be combined with a charm that transported objects. He hoped the portal they opened to view England might also act as a pathway.

“And what objects might we send?” Norrell asked, perplexed as to the reason why this magic must be performed, and so quickly.

“Gifts!” Jonathan smiled and waited for Norrell to understand before rolling his eyes. “Christmas gifts.”

Norrell paused and Jonathan hung on it.

“What do you suppose we send? Would it not be better to send something useful?”

“What would be useful? They know where we are and that they cannot help us. Would it not be nice to send them something just to show we care?”

Norrell’s gaze unfocused as he considered the proposition. The magic would be difficult and require precision and vast amounts of energy, but they had all the time in the world to gain that back. If they waited much longer, they would be too late.

“Yes, that would be agreeable.”

Jonathan grabbed Norrell’s hand, laughing excitedly.

“Then let’s go and find fruit and some flowers!”

Despite the initial sadness it brought her, Arabella returned to Ashfair. The house was hers now and she could run it how she pleased. It was less than a year since Jonathan was taken from her, perhaps eternally. The house remained as it had when her husband dwelt there but for a few changes. She had not the heart to move his papers or books, or paintings of his family. Anything that showed his likeness, such as his portraits or clothes, disappeared along with Hurtfew — the spell wiped all traces of the two magicians. Nothing remained of Jonathan but Arabella’s memory. Even his scent was gone from their bedlinen.

Emma moved into Ashfair following her divorce from Sir Walter. Initially, she refused Arabella’s invitation. Mrs Strange had shown her much kindness and been so patient with her when everyone deemed her mad and attempted to lock her away from society. Arabella argued that the kindness was returned tenfold when Emma kept her safe in Lost Hope. She insisted that as two women determined never to re-marry, and firm friends, they should live together and be happy.

When Arabella woke to knocking on Christmas morning, she expected it was Mary waking her for breakfast.

“Thank you Mary,” she called out, still bleary-eyed from sleep. She wished to lie for a while and think of her husband. She still expected him to be beside her when she woke. When he wasn’t, her heart pulled and twisted in her ribcage. She always needed time to get her thoughts together.

It was not Mary’s voice. It was Emma’s.

“Oh, come in!”

Emma came into the room, feet bare, shoulders swaddled in her nightgown.

“You need to come to the drawing room, right now.”

Arabella dressed quickly and followed Emma downstairs. The servants already crowded around the drawing room door as she approached, looking into the room with an awed fascination. They parted to let their mistress through.

“These were here when I came down this morning,” Emma said softly, “Do you know what they mean?”

Arabella’s mouth dropped open. Upon every flat surface, strewn across every inch of floor space, were hundreds of bright, glittering pansies. Some were scattered loose, others standing bunched in crystal vases. There were wooden boxes and clay pots too, each with an arrangement of the dazzling flowers. A few lay on their sides, clumps of dark soil still clinging to their roots. A wonderful saccharine scent overcame Arabella as she crossed the threshold, staring about in wonder. These were flowers, undoubtedly, but they were more delicate than any blooms she had seen before. They radiated light, illuminating the room with a pale, fresh glow. A tear slid down her face as she smiled, pursing her lips to stop them from trembling. She was happy — happier than she had been in a long while.

“Bell?” Emma stepped into the room, a few stems crunching under her bare feet. “What does this mean?”

Arabella wiped the tear from her cheek and turned to take Emma’s hand.

“It means Jonathan is thinking of me.”

Growing up impoverished meant Childermass never really cared much for Christmas. In his childhood he spent many a Christmas Day without a meal, or any gifts. After his mother hanged, he also spent many without any family beside him.

Once he joined the service of Mr Norrell, who cared as little as himself for Christmas, he expected his disinterest toward the holiday to continue. Norrell had always been unsociable. Early in his service, his master often received invites to Christmas dinners. He told Childermass not to reply to them. Eventually, these invitations stopped coming. He bought no gifts and instructed the servants not to buy him any either.

In his fifth year at Hurtfew, Norrell presented Childermass with an orange on Christmas Day. It was a rare treat and Childermass enjoyed the sharp, juicy taste that left his mouth watering. In his sixth year he received a pineapple. No one in the house knew how to prepare it, but it was large enough to share with all the staff once the cook managed to slice off the skin and carve it.

After that, Christmas for Childermass became something he anticipated. Mainly, he looked forward to the fruit Norrell would surprise him with. Sometimes, if it was something large, they would share it — away from the books of course. Smaller fruits, such as peaches and plums, were for Childermass to enjoy by himself. Occasionally he sketched his gifts before devouring them, especially if they were exotic.

This would be the first Christmas in many years Childermass spent without his master and therefore, without his fruit. He suspected Mr Segundus would buy him something. Perhaps some of the members of the York Society might too. It would not mean the same to him; it was not his tradition. All those had gone with Norrell.

Not being a sentimental man, Childermass supposed he should start making new traditions. Mrs Honeyfoot would cook a feast for the society today, and was probably already preparing the vegetables and meats in the kitchen below.

Pulling the curtains open, he peered out at the view from Starecross’ highest room. It was just dawn, so the fields and hills looked almost black in the morning light. The shapes of trees began to form, the sunlight filtering through their leaves and throwing shadows onto the ground. There was no snow today.

Childermass let out a long sigh and turned towards his bed, ready to make it, get dressed, and prepare himself for the day. But as he turned, something caught his eye — something bright and out of place. On his bedside table sat a large, fresh orange. At least, it looked like an orange. It was larger than any he’d seen and had not been there a moment ago. Glancing at the bedroom door, he saw the bolt remained in place. Norrell then.

Walking around the bed, he picked the orange up and brought it to his face. It smelt strongly of crisp citrus and felt heavy in his hand — the tradition remained.

Smiling, he turned towards the window again.

“Thank you sir,” he said to the sunrise.

Strange/Norrell, Strange/Everyone - everybody loves Strange

(Anonymous) 2015-12-30 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Imagine this situation: Either by a spell or random circumstance, everyone (Sir Pole, Uskglass, Lascelles, you name them) realizes that they are in love with Strange and tries everything in their power to make Strange theirs. Hilarity ensues!

It can be up to the filler who does Strange end up with (or if he ends up with anyone at all) although Strange/Norrell would be preferable.

+ Bonus points if Strange acts completely oblivious to everyone's affections while being slightly horrified on the inside.

++ More bonus points if Arabella isn't helping the situation at all.

+++ Even more bonus points if the filler manages to include Stephen and the Gentleman.

Grant and spanking

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Major Grant has a particularly excellent backside that is, I believe, begging for a good spanking. I can't decide who I would prefer to do such a thing so.... five times Grant had his arse spanked and one time he did the spanking?

Smoking prompt!

I'd love to read about any character's sensory responses as they look at Childermass' smoking his pipe. Doesn't have to be smut or even shippy. :)

De Lancey/Wellington and Grant/De Lancey - mpreg

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've read too many romance novels.
De Lancey's affair with the (married) Duke of Wellington leads to unexpected pregnancy and the possible ruin of his reputation. A respectable marriage is the only option. Fortunately, his friend Major Grant is willing to do the gentlemanly thing.

Bonus points if you can write it seriously
Double bonus points if it ends happily ever after

Re: random male fairy/book!Drawlight - consentacles

Somehow the title and concept are just completely hilarious. I suspect because Drawlight is generally towards the mundane part of the story, the idea of him going full-on hentai is ridiculous, and adorable.

Norrell/Childermass + Aziraphale/Crowley - Good Omens crossover

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
(Sorry if this has already been suggested!)

I was just imagining Mr Norrell meeting Aziraphale from Good Omens. Would they get along famously or be at odds with each other; how would it go? (One thing's for certain: anyone harboring ill intentions towards their books would be in for the worst time EVER if these two teamed up.) Then someone I spoke to pointed out that Childermass and Crowley would be quite interesting too and yes! It seems that a crossover fanfic is in order!

(Shippy or completely gen, either way is fine btw! My only preference is if you mention Drawlight at all for some reason it be the book version.)

Re: Norrell/Childermass + Aziraphale/Crowley - Good Omens crossover

(Anonymous) 2016-01-09 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oo! Now that's interesting! A famous bookseller and a notorious buyer. And although I normally think of Good Omens as modern-day, immortal beings would do well for a historical crossover.

Norrell/fem!Strange - anything

(Anonymous) 2016-01-13 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
This pairing just popped into my mind, and now I can't stop thinking about what kind of relationship would be between Norrell and Strange if Strange was a woman.

The type of fic is absolutely up to the filler: long fill, one-shot, angst, fluff, arranged marriage, smut; really anything about them would make me happy!

Re: Norrell/fem!Strange - anything

(Anonymous) 2016-01-13 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
I just saw "arranged marriage" in your list down there, and now I am fascinated by that for Norrell/fem!Strange - Norrell a gentleman of mature years in need of a wife to help him make magic Respectable, he gets set up with the young Miss Strange who recently discovered her interest in magic. After all, does one not want a wife whose tastes compliment one's own?

To replicate the canon dynamic you'd almost have to have Norrell very much in love with Strange and Strange respectful of him, liking of him, but somewhat ambivalent about him, which could totally be interesting in the context of an arranged marriage. And then you could get into the whole rivalry thing but with the extra added element of them being, well, married. The scandal of a wife leaving her husband, and over an academic debate of all things!

Of course, as you say, there's lots of other interesting directions this could go, I just thought I'd offer some thoughts in case anyone felt like taking on the arranged marriage suggestion. Great prompt, OP!

Childermass/Lascelles bickering during sex

(Anonymous) 2016-01-14 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I think even if Childermass and Lascelles had some sort of "sexual arrangement" this wouldn't stop them from bickering whilst in the act of "doing it"... so I would love a fic where these two are basically at it like rabbits but bickering through the whole thing.

+ bonus points if one of them gets the last word in because the other is rendered speechless over how good it feels

Childermass/Lady Pole BDSM

(Anonymous) 2016-01-24 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
Childermass may often be quiet in the background, but somehow he always makes an impact. I would love to see him topping Lady Pole. She may not think she wants anything to do with men anymore, but she shot Childermass and then he was instrumental in saving her. Childermass deserve some reward and I’m sure he can make her see his way. Consensual, please, otherwise as kinky as you please.

Re: Childermass/Lady Pole BDSM

(Anonymous) 2016-10-25 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I could see this only because, he went to such lengths to spirit her away afterward. He is clearly a creampuff without a single malicious bone in his body. I just see any vegance he takes as the "bend you over my knee variety." After 7 yrs with the fae I just see her erupting into a pile of giggles and poofy skirts as she figures out what he's about. He'd get all indignant and storm off, but after consideration, she'd come and find him.
She didn't mean to shoot him, after all, and probably does owe him an appology. If her prefers it in the form of a spanking, well it wouldn't really be a very good apology if it wasn't bare-assed, now would it?

What? She's gotten a bit kinky, sue her. Besides, have you SEEN that man? Yummy.

Anything Joanwind?

Childermass/Norrell romantic comedy

(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry but this kink meme needs more cheesy rom-com prompts.

So: Norrell is infatuated with Strange pretty much right away right? Maybe he decides to try to seduce Strange or whatever (this can be set shortly after they meet, before he realizes that Strange actually loves his wife)

But he has no idea how to do such a thing. Who usually helps him figure out how to deal with other people? Childermass of course. So basically Childermass is coaching Norrell in how to woo Strange.

Norrell ultimately fails because Strange is happily married to Arabella, but in the process he realizes that his true love (Childermass) was in front of him all along, etc. Fill it up with cliches and tropes, people.

Re: Childermass/Norrell romantic comedy

(Anonymous) 2016-02-03 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of cliches? For instance would the ending be Norrell desperately running along a dockside and up a gangplank to reach the ship that a brokenhearted Childermass is sailing away on? Then he declares his love ("I am just a practical magician standing in front of his servant trying to say...") while a crowd of watching strangers cheer them on? Because, unbeknownst to Childermass, Norrell didn't go ahead with his desperate plan to burst into the church and object before Strange could marry Arabella.

Would Childermass have a local inn where he goes to meet his loveably quirky band of friends (none of whom look like they'd actually hang out together in reality)? Drawlight casts himself as the sassy gay friend I suppose and Stephen Black would be the one ethnic minority cast member who inexplicably has nothing to do with his time but hang out and listen to a bunch of white people whining while never taking any interst in his life and problems.

Strange/Childermass - Childermass is sent to Venice

(Anonymous) 2016-02-06 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure if something similar to this has been posted before...

Instead of Drawlight being sent to Venice Norrell and Lacelles decide to send Childermass.

Childermass finds Strange in his mad, substance abusing state. Seeing as he had such an obvious magician!crush on Strange I'd love to read about him being oddly protective of him while staying loyal to Norrell. Feel free to chuck in some hurt/comfort but I'm also up for just a PWP in this scenario. I don't know how it would get to it but I just want Childermass shagging his brains out please!

Bonus points for lots of hair pulling seeing as there's so much of it to go round!
