A lovely story! I appreciate fics that depart from seeing Norrell as just a fussy, irritable man. He can have sympathy, as the first visit to Sir Walter Pole shows. Sir Walter and Mrs Wintertowne ignore Emma's coughing, while Mr Norrell is the one who empathizes with her (both in the book and the TV series).

Very well written and believable as book-canon (always a plus for me). Thank you for writing and posting!
