Hi, and, thank you so much for starting this kink meme! I look forward to participating very much :)

For the actual question: may I ask about warnings? Are we required to use them in prompts and/or fills?

Speaking as a mod of another kink meme, and if it's not already decided, I would really encourage them not to be mandatory, for various reasons. Of course, it's not up to me at all, and there are obviously good reasons to have them mandatory. But I just wanted to know what you think before I dive in. Thank you again!

Messed up fill heading

(Anonymous) 2015-07-08 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)

I've just started posting a fill for the Norrell sent to Peninsular War instead of Strange prompt on the 5 page of prompts and forgot to write Fill in my heading.
I have re-posted it correctly but I cannot delete the one that I posted wrong (reply at 8/7/2015 at 12.57pm). Would you be able to remove it?

Should I post to the fills list now or wait until I have posted all my fill parts (expected to be about 10)?

someone posted this in the fills thread by mistake and requested that it be deleted in a reply to the accidental post:

Prompt freeze?

Apropos of nothing, would a prompt freeze be a possibility?

A Friendly Reminder to the Meme?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-22 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So over on the discussion post, a poster revealed that their post had recently been hijacked (as in, someone commenting on their post asking for people to fill it for the commenter, and later elaborating on how that commenter wanted the prompt to be filled). Another poster admitted the same had happened to them, and that the hijacker had criticized the original prompt and asked for changes. Could we perhaps have some sort of general reminder to the meme of the rules and guidelines? I hate to ask, as 99% of commenters are probably very conscientious about this, and don't need to be told, but the fact that it's happened to more than one prompter might mean that a gentle reminder is in order.

Meme bad behaviour

(Anonymous) 2015-08-22 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello dearest mod!

There has been discussion lately about some bad behaviour going on in the prompt thread and I wanted to bring it to your attention in the hope you could make a reminder post about meme etiquette.

So, we have had a few instances of prompt-hijacking and prompt-criticising, including at least one where the hijacker made requests that were different from what the OP had asked for, while also suggesting that the OP's original prompt was OOC.

Additionally, the person who appears to be behind the hijackings very frequently signs their name to their comments, despite the fact that the point of the place is to be anonymous, and it's literally the first rule on the prompt post. So could we perhaps also have a reminder that this is an anonymeme?

Finally, there is someone on the kinkmeme (presumably a different someone) who has made it their mission to post as many prompts as they possibly can in the last three days. By that I mean that they have posted at least 70 prompts, all of which are easily identifiable as they come in batches of between 10 and 20, posted in five minute intervals over a period of a couple of hours, and are very distinctive in their format and wording (what I'm trying to say is it's obvious they are all coming from the same person). While it's great someone loves the kinkmeme this much, it would be nice not only to have the promised prompt freeze at 4000 comments, but also a reminder that it's only fair to fill roughly as often as you prompt (or something along those lines).

So yeah, those are the main concerns that have been cropping up in the discussion post. I am hoping you can pull a Stephen Black, in that the kinkmeme is disordered and dirty, but an etiquette reminder might see all these faults set right. :)

Thanks, and sorry if this comes across as negative and/or presumptuous, I just love this place and am sad that a lot of lovely prompters have become frustrated and unhappy over the last few days.

freeze discussion thread?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-23 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey mods, could this thread be frozen now?

Even though it has pretty much blown over it seems like it could flare up again and I think it's better everyone just cool off for a while.

Kinkmeme Etiquette Question

(Anonymous) 2015-08-31 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I originally posted this in Discussion, and got varying opinions as to what the best course should be, so they recommended I put my question in here:

This is my first time participating in a kinkmeme, so I'm not familiar with what is considered bad form, and I didn't see my question mentioned in the Rules and Guidelines section, so...

I put in a prompt in Round One that gained some interest but (alas) not a fill. It was on Page 16, so I'm worried it just got buried. Can I resubmit the prompt for Round Two, or is that being rude and/or not allowed?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Is another gentle reminder required here?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-10 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Hello mod, there's some really very rude and not at all con-crit left here: https://jsmn-kinkmeme.dreamwidth.org/1613.html?thread=1361997#cmt1361997

Not my post, not my fill, but not in the spirit of this meme.

Fill Etiquette Question

(Anonymous) 2015-09-11 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I have only passing familiarity with kink memes and as a writer I have a question:

If I am inspired by a prompt, but want to alter it to suit my own whims, I obviously could not just call it a fill. But would it be permissible to post it on AO3 and state that it was inspired by a prompt on the meme?

Just wondering how this sort of thing works, if at all.

You have done an excellent job of keeping this kinkmeme A Happy Place, mod, and putting a stop to the - thankfully very little - drama that has occasionally reared its ugly head.

Prompt Advertising on Tumblr?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-17 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hello Mod, and thank you very much for the excellent job you have done in keeping this meme a fun and friendly place. I was wondering about the appropriateness of making a tumblr post bringing attention to some particular prompts (especially from Round One) which did not receive fills. Most of the prompts would not be mine, but a couple would be - however, I would not identify which were mine and which were not, nor would I be begging for any fills. It's just that there were a number of really creative, interesting prompts in Round One that I wish people (especially new fans) might get a look at.

If this is not okay, please let me know and I will most certainly abide by the rules and your preferences. Again, thank you for all your work!

Thank you mods!

(Anonymous) 2015-10-15 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard to remember to comment when stuff is going well, so I'm just sending a little love to the mods who are doing such a great job. The new archiving system is great and I've found all sorts of fills I hadn't seen before. Just wanted to say thank you :D

Is it time to give the meme some TLC?

(Anonymous) 2015-11-19 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
I have been debating how to write this, because I don't want it to sound like a complaint when it isn't intended as one. I've just noticed that the meme has been very quiet recently, with not a lot of new prompts or fills and it feels like a real shame. I know I'm as guilty as anyone in not posting recently but I'd hate to see it fade away.
I don't think I'm alone in thinking that the kink meme needs a bit of love and attention from the fans right now, or that I'm alone in wanting to keep it the fun and lively community it has been, so I wondered if there's something we could do to get it going again? There are lots of unfilled prompts that are hidden away, getting a bit stale and forgotten. Can we bring some of them out and dust them off and encourage people to get involved? Maybe some new prompts too, to get the ideas flowing. When the community is really busy, it makes me more inclined to go looking for other prompts that might spark an idea.
You have a presence on tumblr now and I'm sure a lot of fandom is following you. Could this be the time for... I don't know, a week of kink meme love? Everyone post the prompt you never got round to prompting? Maybe some posts with unfilled prompts that might not have been seen? I'm sure other people must have better ideas and I'd be happy to help out if having an extra pair of hands made it easier.
Anyone else got any suggestions? Don't let the meme go quiet!

Please delete my "Strange/Norrell post-canon sex pollen" post from the end of the discussions thread...I meant to post it in the "Awesome prompts" post where I have now posted it, thanks!

Deleting Part of Fic

(Anonymous) 2015-12-20 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi mods, would it be possible to request that part of a fic I posted be deleted? I'm unhappy with it and would like to re-write it. If it is possible I will post the title or message you directly. Thanks.

Please delete story "Ménage à Quelques"--I've just realised I left out one of the parts! Will post again. Thanks.

Posted a comment (for Fanfiction Appreciation Day, not sure if it's late) on the main kinkmeme instead of commenting on the Fill in question. Have now copied it so it can be deleted from the main thread.
