Drawlight/Lascelles

(Anonymous) 2015-06-25 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who had not read the novel, I didn't know the nature of Drawlight and Lascelles' relationship when they were first introduced. However, I immediately assumed that Lascelles was supposed to be Drawlight's lover, or Drawlight a friend with benefits, i.e. in it for the idle company, money and sex, or something like that.
Therefore I would like to read something exploring that. Maybe their relationship is established and the centre of much scandal and intense gossip, or perhaps it was just a one-time drunken fling over a card table. Could be hate-filled, unexpectedly fluffy, one-sided, I don't mind. I should add that I adore height/size difference pairings. As pretty as the literary Drawlight is supposed to be, I feel that his poor dumpy TV counterpart needs some love too, even if he is an 'odious little man'. :P However, if A!A would prefer to write them as they appear in the novel's canon, I won't mind at all. Basically all I want is to read about these two awful men as a couple.

Seconded -- I admit, whenever I see TV!Drawlight I now think of this kinkmeme (thanks to the admin icon), which has made me really fond of him. Would love to see some TV!Drawlight love.

As someone who has read the novel, I felt the same way about their introduction in the book! Anyway, thirded! I love both Drawlights, they're cute in different ways.

I am highly tempted to fill this, but I suppose I ought to give fair warning that it will likely be book Drawlight. Not due to any dislike of the tv version, or because 'omg but I must have pretty,' but just because I've had eleven years to cement the relationship for the two of them presented in the novel. There is a world of difference between ageing macaroni Drawlight and up and coming dandy Drawlight, to the point where they're almost different characters. (And the tv version would need me to come up with a new backstory and I am the last person who needs to devote time to that sort of endeavor because copious research and unnecessary detail will follow and it is likely nothing will ever get written.) But don't worry. Drawlight will be just as odious as his screen counterpart. If not more so.

Just so long as he's not as odious as Lascelles. All of his faults pale in comparison to his horrible boyfrined's.
