Emma Pole/Arabella Strange/Flora Greysteel, Pistol Duels

Whilst on the Continent, Emma Pole, who is very fed up with men trying to take whatever they want from women, gets embroiled in a pistol duel (or a series of them) in defense of Arabella and/or Flora's honour. She's gotten somewhat handy with a gun since she shot Childermass in the chest, and quickly becomes rather feared for it. The other two ladies take to this rather well, despite perhaps some reservations on Arabella's part.

Emma Pole/Mary Shelley, Writer's Muse

Watching the series, one of the first things I thought about Emma's faerie-induced greying was that she was gaining something of a Bride of Frankenstein look (yes, I know, movies not book, but still). And, well, travelling Europe with Arabella, Flora and the poetic set, there's the original author herself. So. Mary Shelley finding a muse and a lover in this wild, resurrected woman who takes no shit from anybody? Maybe throw in Emma developing something of a talent for weather (storm) magic along the way?

A very odd pair, and I've no idea how they'd even meet, it was just this line: [Wellington] approved of people doing things promptly and in a businesslike fashion. And, well, who does things in better businesslike fashion than Childermass?

Stephen/Vinculus(/Childermass), post-resurrection protective stalking

When Stephen finds out that Vinculus is still alive, he finds he has a definite urge to see that the man stays that way. Hence Vinculus (and occasionally Childermass by extension) finds that he has something of a protective stalker in the form of a guilt-ridden newly-crowned faerie king, and isn't entirely sure what to do about this, aside from being appreciative.

Bonus if Stephen struggles with the fear that he is turning into the Gentleman by doing this, but finds that he simply cannot watch Vinculus be harmed again.

John Childermass/John Uskglass, Dreams, Healing, Scars, Comfort

The Raven King does not like to see his servants hurt, and this servant least of all. Once magic is restored to England, Childermass begins to find that he has strange dreams whenever he is hurt, ones that he cannot remember clearly afterwards, but from which he always wakes up feeling oddly comforted and refreshed. Dreams where he vaguely remembers his hurts and old scars being lavished with a fierce and oddly tender attention, and a dark, powerful figure that shields him from harm. He doesn't know what to make of them, and vaguely wonders if they should really be as erotic as they are, but a dream's a dream and hardly his doing, so he doesn't worry too much about them.

Not, at least, until the Raven King decides to claim him in the waking world as well.

Strange/Norrell, Post-Pillar PDA

One of the things I've wondered about after the book/series is how a hundred years with only one other person, traveling through other worlds with other customs, might affect Norrell and Strange psychologically. Especially if they ended up together in a romantic way, and fairies looked on public displays of their affection either favorably or without caring, would they be able to stop themselves once they came back out? Presuming they do pop out around 1917, as some people have suggested, precisely how are these two magicians supposed to reintegrate themselves into society? Does Norrell tend to cling to Strange when he gets frightened (which, in a world with automobiles and other weird machines, once has to assume happens a lot)? Does Strange have the tendency to hold Norrell's hand at dinner parties, as it used to be an excellent way of warding off unwanted fairy attentions? How many times and how many places did they almost get caught kissing (or more, if Strange is feeling reckless and Norrell is feeling biddable)? Do they keep narrowly averting scandal? Who knows about them? Who suspects? How will the Strangeites and the Norrellites respond to their semi-fallen idols?

I am so filled with questions about this post-pillar period, and the psychological states and actions of these two, you have no idea! I would love to read anything you like, exploring these questions, or any others you can think of regarding the topic!

Strange/Norrell/Arabella - Post-Pillar Polyamory

After a few years, Strange and Norrell are able to escape the Pillar and return to England. Arabella is eager to pick up where things left off with her husband, but there is a problem: Strange has entered into a relationship with Norrell in the intervening years. Arabella - not wanting to lose her husband but also not wanting to separate him from the man he has come to love - proposes a solution: that the three of them should live together. The arrangement takes some getting used to for all parties, and at first the relationship is only Arabella/Strange and Norrell/Strange. But then one night Strange has traveled somewhere, leaving Arabella and Norrell alone and... Something happens.

I just really want to see how this night would come to pass and what the aftermath would be. Is Jonathan jealous when he gets home and finds Norrell and Arabella in bed together? Or does he just shrug and get in with them? Also, I just really want to read about Norrell getting it on with a woman for once. Please folks, I'm begging here.

But...I can't see our favourite fussy magician putting up with Childermass' dirty nails and general air of horsey grubbiness for long. So, bonus points for gratuitous lingering wash-time scenes.

Childermass & Lascelles fuck Drawlight at the same time while glaring at each other, starting up a sort of competition over who can arouse him more, like Childermass smacks his ass really hard and Lascelles pinches/pulls his nips roughly and so on and so forth, just goes from there. Like "aha, he moaned louder than I did that!"

I'm thinking: the sailor at Whitby, possibly a minor act of prostitution, letting a rich bibliophile have his way with him in exchange for a book, something with Lascelles (Childermass lets Lascelles do what he wants in order to get access to something Lascelles has?)... etc. Lots of Childermass gritting his teeth and getting filthily used.

I just, have this desire for all of the characters to be queuing in McDonald's and discussing what they'd like to order. Childermass has the task of telling the cashier the whole order.

Examples/ideas:
Norrell can't decide until the last minute and is worried about calorie counting.
Lascelles thinks he's better than everyone by ordering the Deli Wrap.
Jonathan leans over the counter (drunk) and flirts with the cashier.
Drawlight having a ridiculous request (like a double cheeseburger with no gherkins, done medium-rare with extra onions and cheese on only one side)
Emma wants a "family-sized" box of nuggets (that the Gentleman, who said he didn't want anything, ends up stealing half of)
Etc.

Discussion/suggestions GREATLY appreciated because I'm laughing my arse off over here!

If you're on Tumblr, you'll probably know who this is. I don't want to take the meme over with my million plot bunnies, so this one was carefully selected.

This could be gen, het, slash, or poly and I'd be perfectly happy. It hinges on the rebuilding! Whenever there’s a poorly run or ruined house in a story, all I want is for someone to come along and fix it up. Basically I’d love fic which deals with all that: The clearing away of the Gentleman’s rubble, the fixing of the actual walls instead of putting a glamour on them, getting a fire going in the fireplace (dropped branches only so as not to offend local trees), physically scrubbing away centuries of dirt, returning gaudy stuff the Gentleman has stolen, redecorating etc.

It could be a romance where Stephen falls in love with his interior decorator, either author’s choice or an OC. I read a romance novel like that and man, it was satisfying to see that house come together (the romance could’ve been better). Imagine how many interesting variations you could have depending on the choice of partner! Mrs Brandy? Segundus? Arabella?? Reanimated Drawlight???

Huge bonus: Strange & Norrell visiting Stephen in Hope Regained.

Also a bonus: Stephen meeting Tom Brightwind and exchanging opinions about Englishmen / traditional fairy decorating styles.

Childermass leans, slumps and lounges over pretty much everything. Maybe sometimes, if he's off-duty, or travelling, or been kept up at odd hours, or wounded/exhausted, he dozes off while slumped/wedged wherever. Gimme some glimpses of people stumbling across him.

Norrell being shocked, appalled and scandalised by finding him happily laid out on some lower shelving at Hurtfew, dozing away.

Hannah and the girls finding him nodding off in the laundry room and promptly having his hide for bringing his dirty boots anywhere near the place.

Drawlight swearing to God and High Heaven that he found the man sleeping standing up in the hall once, and when he'd gone to gently nudge the man awake, why, he'd almost gotten his hand taken off!

Jonathan Strange almost tripping over him napping on the back stairs one day and damn near having a heart-attack.

Honeyfoot and Segundus coming downstairs at Starecross to find him wedged into a chair, feet up on the kitchen table, head back and snoring.

Vinculus being impressed by all the random nooks and crannies Childermass somehow finds for them on the road. Speaking as a professional vagabond himself, those are some damn fine hedge-seeking instincts.

I don't know. Pick the oddest place you could plausibly wedge the man, and have somebody stumble across him there. I just like the idea of rumpled!Childermass dozing in random corners of the world ;)

Mundane Regency AU

See subject line! This is mainly because I'd love to see what these characters would have done for a living and how their lives would have gone if it wasn't for the magic.

Some possible plots:

* Mr Norrell is a noted botanist who has devised wonderful theories and experiments that promise to revolutionize Mr Linnaeus' system of classification. Jonathan Strange is a gentleman amateur biologist in the spirit of the Lunar Men. They meet and geek out and nobody gets killed. Probably.
* Stephen Black and Lady Pole fall into perfectly ordinary depression and face much the same trials. The gentleman could be a reprobate lordling who falls in love with both of them and plays mindgames with them right under Sir Walter's nose, or he could just not be there, and the man Stephen kills for his freedom is Sir Walter.
* Jonathan the Fighting Naturalist in the ravages of war, making black powder and assisting in surgeries while also trying to chart the flora of the Peninsula!

Possibilities:

1. Post-shooting Drawlight becomes tree fairy/spirit, finds Lascelles in Faerie, and rescues him from his fate. Lascelles is desperate, completely dependent on him. Drawlight starts to feel, for the first time in the many years he's known Lascelles, like he's the one in control and with all the power for a change. Decides to "punish" Lascelles for what he did. (No non-con please, maybe Lascelles suggests it first himself.)

or...

2. Just a random fling sometime pre-shooting. Maybe Lascelles is bored and asks Drawlight to take control one night, thinking it'd be funny but then Drawlight is surprisingly good at it.

Either way, I don't think Drawlight is sadistic so, compared to Lascelles, he'd be a more gentle dom, but in a condescending, sharp-tongued sort of way.

Jonathan Strange, addiction

After he returns from the Peninsula Jonathan and is dealing with some tough bouts of PTSD. He turns to medicinal methods, maybe something like laudanum, to help manage troubles such as the hand trembling and not being able to sleep ect. Then he finds he cannot stop. Bring on the hurt dear writer. Have him struggling to hide from Arabella and even Mr. Norrell. Have things get worse before they get better. Even go so far as to have someone catch him and work through getting clean again if you'd like.

I'm open to GEN or romance. People I'm particularly fond of pairing with Strange are: Grant, Arabella, or Norrell. And my knowledge of old timey medicines is fairly limited so if you know other things he might become addicted to at the time speak up!

Segundus/Lady Pole - blancmange/cookery

So ever since that amazing moment where Segundus holds out that (delicious looking) spoonful of blancmange for Lady Pole, I've wanted fic about it.

First of all, I don't care how it happens, but I want Segundus trying to make it for her (perhaps she requests that it is he who makes it and not the cook, if there is one, or he just wants to give it a try) and failing MISERABLY. Give me Segundus getting frustrated in his endearing way that he's made a bowl of lumpy cement that doesn't even resemble blancmange.

So once the kitchen mishaps have happened (with perhaps the cook constantly trying to intervene or giggling in the corner) and he successfully makes a blancmange, Lady Pole DOESN'T WANT TO EAT IT! Give me Segundus trying to convince her to eat it (perhaps guilt-tripping her by telling her all about how hard it was to make), maybe having a spoonful himself and telling her how lovely it is, etc. Basically -- please eat this Lady Pole, do you know how LONG it took me to make this!!

If this gets shippy I'll be over the actual moon because this pairing gives me life (and feeding is one of my biggest kinks), but I'd be so so happy with gen too :)

You are after my own heart because I find that blancmange TOTALLY HILARIOUS. I know it's undoubtedly excellent "invalid food" and very delicate and suitable for the tastes of ladies, but IT'S SO FUNNY. He's so distressed that she won't eat the blancmange!

I also like to imagine that she asked for more and more difficult foodstuffs to be prepared, each time claiming that this was what she absolutely wanted, something in the manner of the mother from Thumbelina (picture Segundus sneaking into the walled gardens of Yorkshire in search of various vegetables that she has demanded) and each time mysteriously changing her desire at the last minute. Segundus, of course, falls for it every time.
