Prompt: I'm a sucker for these two, but its idea never works because of Norrell being Norrell. So. Childermass trying to get off on the thought of Gilbert, but repeatedly failing because he is turned off by the knowledge Norrell would never be willing.

This got a little away from me, and ended up a lot more as resolved sexual tension than UST, but at least it starts in a UST place, and spends a lot of time dealing with Childermass' repeated failures to fantasize them into sex.

Prompt: Strange has reservations about a spell Wellington wants him to cast a spell to confound the French... inevitably the spell backfires and has a potent effect on Strange. Grant is sent out to find him and find him he does, and he quickly realises that Strange is not entirely himself.

There are places where like minded gentlemen can meet to give vent to some of their less socially accepted needs.
That is how Segundus meets Childermass for the first time. But after their first wonderful night it seems that they keep running into each other on every opportunity.
Segundus is afraid of blackmail, Childermass suspects some sort of scheme. But by fate or coincident each time they meet they menage to end up with hands in each other trousers.

Or how on Segundus and Childermass kind of sort of made out every time they had a bit of privacy.

Prompt: At the end of the book, Norrell mentions that the Pillar of Darkness might last as much as 100 years, which would mean that they would reemerge in England around 1917, right in the middle of World War I. What with Strange's wartime experiences already being an issue, not to mention whatever codependency issues they probably developed over a hundred years (one assumes for the sake of the story not ageing) together, I really want to see these two men returning to find England in the middle of a new and far more terrible war, made all the worse and more complicated by magicians on both sides. I would love to see this as an established relationship, and the only point of familiarity for them in the face of a world utterly changed.
