Lady Pole/John Segundus (spoilers)

Lady Pole and John Segundus fall in love when he looks after her, and in the end she doesn't want to return to her husband. (After all it was Mr. Segundus who was there for her when she needed help, not her husband.)Possibly Lady Pole wants to become a magician too and be independent, have adventures etc.
Any ideas for a story anyone?

Oh yes, I love this idea! Emma wanting to learn magic so that she can defend herself in the future and possibly encourage other women to do the same. Begging Segundus to teach her and, of course, Segundus being more than happy to do so. ;)

Norrell/Childermass 1x07 Library

This is based on 1x07 final episode. *Spoilers here?*

I am pissed at what happened in the library so I changed it up:

The situation is different in the library and Norrell goes crazy over Childermass and defends him and checks on him to make sure he is alright while Lascelles escapes after noticing that MAYBE he should not have hurt Childermass. Yeah that cleans all repect that Norrell have for that guy.

I wanted to see this so badly in the episode and was so disappointed in Norrell. Some fix-it fic would be lovely.

Segundus as a Changling or part faerie

Isn't it so odd that the 'great' magicians, Mr. Norrell and Mr. Strange couldn't see the spell that bound Lady Pole and Stephen? Even Childermass who's showed incredible insightfulness and power said nothing of the rose gagging Stephen and Lady Pole. It made me wonder if Mr. Segundus has some faerie sight, mayhap some faerie blood?

What if Mr. Segundus was faerie, part, or a quarter or even a changeling child in some way, how would this come about being known, would Childermass or Vinculus discover it? Would Mr. Honeyfoot have suspicions from Mr. Segundus seeming to know and see things that no one else seems to, throw away comments. Perhaps The Ravenking knows and keeps an eye on him with his grows and other subjects.

Mostly I'm looking for a fic to describe how Mr. Segundus would be as a faerie, what would change and what wouldn't? It can be pre- or post- or during the events of the book/show, how would other characters react. Would the Gentleman with Thistledown hair try to entice him back to Lost Hope, would Stephen draw him back as one of his new subjects? So many possibilities to have in Mr. Segundus' character.

+1,000,000 gold stars if Childermass/Segundus relationship is worked in, those two are such an interesting pairing and one I have grown to like for the possibilities in it!!!

Childermass may have been reluctantly willing to tolerate the despicable behaviour of one Henry Lascelles. But when Mr Lascelles started to direct his cruelty towards a certain Mr Segundus of the Learned Society of York Magicians, well-- Childermass was not going to let that stand.

For some reason Segundus is the only one who can interpret the book but doing so makes him faint/ill. Or in his want/obsession with it he just doesn't look after himself.

Lady Pole/John Segundus

Lady Pole goes off on her continental adventure to find Arabella and sort this whole magic-business out. She requires a companion with knowledge on the subject and (through a mixture of charms, latent guilt and straight up yanking him out of the door) she convinces Mr. Segundus to join her.

Post-series, the three ladies hanging out in Italy. What's the dynamic like? Flora is interested in magic, Lady Pole hates it, Arabella has reasons both to like and dislike it. How much does Arabella remember of her time in Lost-Hope, if any?

Picture this: Childermass with his hands tied behind his back as he's sitting astride someone's lap, his hair all loose and in disarray as he moves against them, trying to set the pace even now.

Hey, he does spend all lot of time looking dashing while on horseback. This seemed a logical next step.

Jonathan/Arabella/(Norrell?) - Post-Final, Conjugal Visit

Strictly romantic option: Jonathan finds a way to visit Arabella for a few hours one night for a sweet and steamy reunion. Perhaps he is affected by the magic that possesses him in some way: maybe it makes him not completely solid or causes him to fade in and out between being completely physically present and just an illusion. Or perhaps the magic that surrounds him makes the experience all the more pleasant for both him and Arabella.

Bonus crack option: In order to be able to come to Arabella, Jonathan requires not only his own power but Norrell's as well. Meaning that Norrell must remain in the room during Jonathan and Arabella's "activities." Norrell either hides in a corner with his face to the wall and his hands covering his ears, or - if you prefer - he totally enjoys the show.

Tell Lucy, Hannah and Dido that I said goodbye and wished them well- and good obedient husbands when they want them." (These were three housemaids who were particular favourites of Childermass.)

Davey grinned. "And you yourself willing to do the job, sir?” he said.

Childermass laughed- then flinched at the pain in his face. “Well for Hannah perhaps,” he said. “Goodbye lads." --Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.

Based on this quote from the book, I'd love some fic speculating about Childermass's relations with Norrell's the housemaids.

Especially as BBC!Mary confesses to having a thing for dashing servants with Yorkshire accents!

Since the Gentleman canonically ships Arabella and Lady Pole (this is the very picture of beauty – to see my two rarest and finest flowers entwine so happily) I would love to see something with them at Lost Hope. It's up to the writer's discretion if the Gentleman joins in or enjoys his ship from a distance, though this anon would not mind a dance of three partners.

Childermass/Norrell - Post-Apocalyptic AU

Futuristic and/or Mad Max style AU where it's technology that's long been lost from the world, following some kind of apocalyptic event which saw the world laid to ruin. The last surviving keepers of technology fled Earth on the last spaceship, the Starship Raven King, long, long ago, leaving very little behind.

Childermass as a nomadic loner who drifts from settlement to settlement without ever quite settling in, and has every plan to move on in this fashion until one day he meets an odd, mousy hermit of a man who's been hoarding old remnants of technology and is, as it turns out, a genius capable of making technology work in ways no one's been able to solve for decades. A reluctant Childermass finds himself surprisingly protective of this fussy, naive, bratty church mouse of a man who is too easily taken advantage of and will likely be shackled and put to work as soon as anyone finds out what he can do -- so he takes it upon himself to make sure this doesn't happen.

Shipping optional but adored, basically "Childermass and Norrell backstory, post-apocalyptic edition."

This. I approve of every inch of this. Mechanical/computer genius Gilbert Norrell and post-apocalyptic badass Childermass is so very relevant to my interests.

Strange/Norrell - Snow Queen

During their travels through Faerie, Jonathan Strange is afflicted by a slow-acting fairy curse that turns his heart to ice or stone or something like. Norrell has to watch in fright and horror as Strange's behavior grows more and more heartless and casually cruel; normally able to count on Strange as the kindhearted and chivalrous one of the two, Norrell finds himself in the odd position of having to take care of cursed!Strange and singlehandedly figure out a way to undo the spell. Extra points if Norrell has preexisting (one-sided or not) feelings for Strange and cursed!Strange makes some cruel attempt to exploit this.

I want this a lot. I love fairytales in context of this world, and this in particular sounds both gorgeous and painful. And hey, such curses do tend to get cured with love, so Norrell's got a shot ...

Norrell sent to Penninsula war instead of Strange

Mr Norrell is sent to be Wellington's army magican instead of Strange. Mr Norrell doesn't like anything about it. Not taking a ship to get there, not having all his books with him, having to ride on horse back instead of a carriage, not the heat, not the food, not Wellington's attitude and certainly nothing about being so near to war and possible death. He also doesn't hesitate to tell people this.

Childermass goes with him as he suspects Mr Norrell wouldn't last five minutes on his own.

Norrell having to do something without his books/improvise/use a spell he doesn't think is respectable because the alternative is probable death or at the least being sent back to England amid accusations of failure and uselessness.

Norrell and Childermass getting closer (friends or more) as the conditions they are living under takes its toll on them. Doesn't have to be Norrell/Childermass, but it would be much liked.

Childermass will not have recognised him at the time, but the Raven King has visited him once before. Some years before the start of the book/series he met a most peculiar man at a bar in Yorkshire, and ended up being taken back to a rented room.

Feel free to take the above prompt and run with it, but I've got a few bonus points to hand out:
